My name is Alyssa, and I am a Canadian born realist who loves to photograph life as it is and as it unfolds.
I believe in spontaneous exploration, finding out for yourself, and lifelong learning. I like to go on daily adventures (you best believe that my next trip to the post office will be the most interesting one yet!), collecting vintage tattoos, and spending my days off in the company of family and friends with quality food and drink. Photography has always been a constant in my life. I have and continue to take photos of absolutely everything, absolutely everywhere, because I think life itself is inspiring. At the age of twelve, my favorite spots to take photos were at my house, or your house, or recess at school with a disposable camera. Today, it’s probably still at my house, or your house, or maybe more like the recesses of daily life with a DSLR.
“Live in the sunshine, swim the sea, drink the wild air.”
- Ralph Waldo Emerson
Beginning to freelance in 2008 with a local newspaper in Toronto, ON (think Detroit Metro Times), I photographed events, portraits, and editorials, among other projects and assignments. I had such a love for the creative freedom, and learning new things through the experiences I was sent to document. Wanting to elevate the quality of my images I applied to a highly regarded photography program at Sheridan College in Oakville, ON and was accepted in 2010. I spent two entire years completely devoted to everything photography. This is where my true professional and creative foundation was laid. Which I still build upon to this very day.
After graduating, I continued to work all kinds of different photography jobs, but for some reason wasn’t completely satisfied. In 2014, I identified I really wanted to do photography work that was focused on people. I wanted to do work that was honest and real and would be very dearly held as time moved forward. Naturally, this is how I started photographing weddings.
When it comes to wedding photography, I love spending time with a group of people. From getting ready, to making effortless portraits, to the first kiss and dance, and all the little moments in between. I want to be the keeper of preserved moments. From my heart to yours, it would be an honor to be a part of your special day!
