Love Birds - Jennifer & John - Ann Arbor, MI
Jennifer & John as you may notice are pretty big Detroit red wings fans. Jennifer had set up an engagement session with us in Downtown Detroit right next to the Joe Louis arena. One day she calls us as says she was able to set up the engagement session inside the arena on the ice and tells John, hey we are no longer doing photos at the arena anymore. So at this point John is disappointing, when he comes to find out he will be able to skate on the ice...
John was like a kid in a candy store!
The session was pretty cool for us to be ale as photographers to go on the ice as well... The fact that that stadium is closing soon make is even better. Not only were J & J excited to get their engagement photos done, but also excited with the opportunity. Its always amazing to have such excited couples to be around...

Love Birds - Sarah & Brad - Ann Arbor, MI
Sarah & Brad engagement session was in the Ann Arbor area and boy was it a blast. S & B live in Ohio but have this cute little house on the lake, here in Michigan, that they plan to have their wedding at. We stopped at their hometown tavern and got some candid photos of them doing shots. Played with their adorable dogs, and got into some nature. S & B's charismatic attitudes during their wedding day will surely make it a blast and we cannot wait to be there!
Love Birds - Christina & Ben - Farmington Hills, MI
Christina & Ben's engagement session took place at our favorite engagement spot, Heritage Park in Farmington Hills, MI. The couple interaction with each-other was perfect to the point where most of the images are strictly candid. Nothing beats a genuine smile and a natural pose.
C & B's wedding will be on a yacht this summer and we cant wait to share the amazing wedding photos with you as well.

Edgy + Dramatic
alice heart photography's head photographer Jarrett Timmons joined forces with a handful of wedding professionals in February to collaborate an edgy and dramatic styled wedding pho-shoot. The shoot took place in Utica, MI at a micro brewery by the name of Sherwood Brewing Company. We all wanted to do something unique that had not really been done before and came up with this amazing idea.
The images turned out absolutely stunning!
The impact that just the three images from the shoot have are an attribute to the quality of images that can be produced by just taking time out of the day to let the ideas unfold.

The first shot took roughly 10 minutes to setup and two seconds to take. The results were totally worth the time it took to create!

Amy and Andy are so adorable, their session took place at the Bloomfield public library. A & A wanted to take their engagement photos somewhere special. The library was the perfect place.
A & A had met each other for the first time at the library. Andy was Amy's Korean langue tutor and they just fell for each other, the rest is history!

Wedding Day - Michelle & Dan - Rochester, MI
Michelle & Dan's wonderful wedding day took place at Meadow Brook in Rochester, MI and it was an affair to remember. M & D had a first look which gave them a jump start on their special day and more time after the ceremony to spend with friends and family. The images from M & D's special day surely came out amazing, from photos with a classic automobile to Dan playing the drums at his own wedding.
D & M also gave a small portion of time to take some photos halfway through the reception, which enabled a different feel to the images and gave a unique feel. (We advise all our clients to step out for these photos as well, it also gives a great break from a long day)

Wedding Day - Charlotte & Ryan - Saline, MI
Charlotte & Ryan's wedding took place in Saline, Michigan at Weller's Carriage House. The carriage house is breathtakingly gorgeous and the ambient lighting while the girls were getting ready was perfection.
Ryan's brother Joey is a local wedding planner we work with frequently, so when he asked us to photography his brothers wedding we were joyous!
Every detail of this wedding was perfect, we are so glad we were able to capture every emotional moment of C & R's special day.

Katie and Brad's engagement session took place at one of our favorite locations to photograph engagement sessions, Heritage Park. Located in Farmington Hills, MI. This lovely couple's smiles brought warmth to a cold day in November. Even thought most of the leaves from the trees had already fallen the lighting was phenomenal as it always is in the winter months. The photos come out amazing and full of life. April & Nick had already tied the knot prior to this day on a sandy beach outside the US. The days was for their friends and family who couldn't make it to their golden sun elopement. We just cant get enough of this amazing couple Abby & Nikko. When A & N came into the office you could just tell from that very moment that they were meant for each-other, they are such an adorable couple. Alyssa photographed their engagement session out in East Lansing Michigan at the CMU campus. The photos came out breath taking, the fall leaves really added to the color pallet tremendously.
We just cant wait for their wedding next year to capture some more amazing images.

Wedding Day - Allison & Jason - Bowling Green, OH
Allison & Jason's special day took place at Stone Ridge Golf Club in Ohio. Where their charismatic personalities shined while they prepared for the big day. Kate perfectly captured Allison's every smile as the day unfolded. You can tell these two were meant for each-other in every image, their gaze locks and you can just tell. Being able to see that in images is why we do what we do. Capturing emotions fleeting in time.
A & J's portraits were at the University of Toledo campus where the gorgeous architecture compliments every image. It was a perfect wedding and Allison is just rocking that cathedral veil.

Although we do a lot of light an airy photos during weddings, we do love what a dramatic pose can do to an image. The intense gaze emanating from the couples visage pulls you in and keeps you there. Wedding Day - Michelle & Justin - Shelbyville, MI
Michelle & Justin got married at the breathtaking Bay Pointe Inn - Boat House Villa in Shelbyville, MI. One of Michigan's hidden gems off the beaten path. This was our second day in a row being at the Villa this year and I will say, it does not disappoint. M & J Pulled it all together with their happy go luck attitude the entire day, making the day a breeze.
This is one of those couples where every-time you look at the groom his eyes were glued to his bride, it was so amazing to see that he couldn't take his eyes off of her.

Wedding Day - Elizabeth & Gabriel - Southgate, MI
Elizabeth & Gabriel's wedding took place in Southgate Michigan at the Grecian Center where they took whimsical images in the cascading sunlight, the clouds providing ample coverage through the day giving perfect light for photographs.
E & G met as colleges in the school they were working for before moving to North Carolina, as you know teachers have to be goofy and lighthearted to survive students. They were such goof balls, it was awesome. It was overall a blast of a wedding!
Oh, and Elizabeth has a twin sister, can you tell which one she is?

Photography Insider - photographing large wedding parties
When you have a large wedding party, it can sometimes be difficult to find a decent location to take photos. The biggest issue your photographer will come across is not having enough room to step back and get the shot.
The solution?
Compression... The more people we can fit into a tight frame the less the photographer will need to step back. While that may be super obvious, its not always easy to pose 18 or more people in small spaces. The best way to break this gap is to have a few people sitting, so find some chars and everything will turn out swell.
If you have no chairs it might ruin the simplicity of the shot but you could just have everyone super close together as well.
The last option being the obvious, finding more space to take the photo.
