Noise Ordinances: Be mindful of noise ordinances and any restrictions on amplified music or outdoor gatherings, especially if your ceremony or reception will take place in a residential area.
Insurance Requirements: Some venues may require you to obtain liability insurance for your event, so be sure to check with your venue coordinator or event planner about any insurance requirements.

Wedding photography is an essential aspect of any couple's big day, capturing moments that will be cherished for a lifetime. However, many soon-to-be-wed couples often have questions about the process, style, and intricacies of wedding photography. In this blog post, we'll address some of the most frequently asked questions to help you navigate the world of wedding photography with confidence.
1. What style of wedding photography is right for us?
There are various styles of wedding photography, including traditional, photojournalistic, fine art, and documentary. Each style offers a unique approach to capturing your special day. Traditional photography focuses on posed portraits, while photojournalistic photography captures candid moments as they unfold. Fine art photography emphasizes creative compositions and artistic expression, while documentary photography tells the story of your day as it naturally unfolds. Consider your personal preferences and the overall vibe of your wedding when choosing a style that resonates with you.
2. How many hours of coverage do we need?
The amount of coverage you need depends on the size and schedule of your wedding. A typical wedding day may require 8-12 hours of coverage to capture everything from pre-ceremony preparations to the reception festivities. Discuss your timeline with your photographer to determine the ideal amount of coverage to ensure that no moment is missed.
3. Should we do a first look?
A first look is where the couple sees each other before the ceremony, which can be a magical moment that allows for intimate and authentic reactions. It also provides an opportunity to capture heartfelt emotions in a private setting. However, whether or not to do a first look is a personal decision that should reflect your preferences and values as a couple. Discuss the pros and cons with your photographer to make an informed choice that aligns with your vision for the day.
4. How can we ensure that our wedding photos turn out beautifully?
Communication and collaboration are key to ensuring that your wedding photos exceed your expectations. Be open and honest with your photographer about your vision, preferences, and any specific shots you want to capture. Trust their expertise and allow them creative freedom to capture the essence of your day. Schedule an engagement session to get comfortable in front of the camera and build rapport with your photographer before the big day.
5. What should we look for when choosing a wedding photographer?
When selecting a wedding photographer, consider factors such as style, experience, personality, and professionalism. Review their portfolio to ensure that their aesthetic aligns with your vision for your wedding photos. Meet with potential photographers in person or via video call to gauge compatibility and ensure that you feel comfortable working with them. Ask for references and read reviews from past clients to get a sense of their reputation and reliability.
6. How far in advance should we book our wedding photographer?
Wedding photographers tend to book up quickly, especially during peak wedding seasons. It's advisable to book your photographer as soon as you have secured your wedding date and venue. Some couples book their photographer up to a year or more in advance to ensure availability. If you have your heart set on a specific photographer, don't hesitate to reach out and secure their services as soon as possible.
7. What is included in a wedding photography package?
Wedding photography packages vary depending on the photographer and the services offered. Typically, packages include a specified number of hours of coverage, edited high-resolution images, an online gallery for viewing and sharing photos, and options for additional services such as engagement sessions, albums, prints, and more. Review the details of each package carefully to choose one that meets your needs and budget.
8. How much should we budget for wedding photography?
The cost of wedding photography varies widely depending on factors such as location, experience, reputation, and package offerings. As a general guideline, couples typically allocate 10-15% of their overall wedding budget to photography. Keep in mind that investing in a skilled and experienced photographer is worth it, as your wedding photos will be cherished heirlooms for years to come.
The Michigan Elopement Photographer's Perspective
Elopements offer a unique opportunity for couples to break free from tradition and celebrate their love in a deeply personal way. Whether exchanging vows atop a secluded bluff overlooking Lake Michigan, beneath the towering pines of the Upper Peninsula, or amidst the vibrant colors of a Michigan orchard in autumn, each elopement tells a story that is as unique as the couple themselves.
In the heart of Michigan's picturesque landscapes, amidst towering forests, serene lakes, and hidden gems, lies the perfect backdrop for intimate love stories to unfold. As a Michigan elopement photographer, I've had the privilege of witnessing the raw beauty and genuine emotion that accompany couples as they embark on their journey to say "I do" in the most intimate of settings.
As a photographer, my approach to capturing these moments is rooted in authenticity and connection. I believe in taking the time to truly get to know each couple, understanding their vision for their elopement and the emotions they hope to convey through their photographs. This allows me to document not just the events of the day, but the essence of their love story – the laughter, the tears, the quiet moments of connection that make their bond so special.
One of the most rewarding aspects of being a Michigan elopement photographer is the opportunity to explore the hidden corners of this beautiful state alongside my couples. From the rugged beauty of the Porcupine Mountains to the tranquil shores of Sleeping Bear Dunes, Michigan offers endless possibilities for couples seeking an adventurous elopement experience.
But perhaps the most meaningful part of my work is witnessing the love and joy that radiate from each couple as they exchange vows in the presence of only their closest loved ones. There's a magic to elopements – an intimacy and authenticity that is impossible to replicate in larger, more traditional weddings.
As a Michigan elopement photographer, my goal is to capture that magic – to tell the story of each couple's love in a way that is as unique and beautiful as they are. And in doing so, I hope to create photographs that will serve as a lasting reminder of the love, joy, and adventure that they shared on their wedding day.

Their vibrant personalities shone through, and I couldn't help but feel like I was amongst old friends when their wedding day finally arrived.
What struck me the most about Jennifer and Todd was their infectious energy and genuine love for life. Their laughter was contagious, and it was apparent that they shared an unbreakable bond built on love, trust, and a mutual zest for living life to the fullest. Documenting their engagement session felt like merely the beginning of a beautiful journey, one that culminated in the picturesque setting of the Ovation Yacht in St. Claire Shores, Michigan.
The wedding day itself was a reflection of their fun-loving spirits. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the shimmering lake, it felt like a celebration of everything that defined Jennifer and Todd's relationship—joy, laughter, and a profound connection. The familiarity of the yacht, a place where they had spent countless memorable moments, added an extra layer of intimacy to the occasion. It was as if every corner of that vessel held a story, a shared memory that made the day even more special.
Witnessing Jennifer and Todd together was witnessing pure magic. Their compatibility was evident in every glance, every shared smile, and every tender moment. They complemented each other in a way that was both heartwarming and inspiring. Their love radiated effortlessly, and it was an honor to capture the beautifully candid moments that showcased their adorably perfect bond.
Nestled along the serene shores of Lake St. Clair, the picturesque Edsel & Eleanor Ford House served as an enchanting backdrop for Jennifer and Todd's wedding day photos. Stepping into this historic estate felt like stepping into a fairytale—a place where time stood still amidst the beauty of meticulously landscaped gardens and the grandeur of the architecture. The elegance of the Ford House perfectly complemented the couple's grace and sophistication, adding an extra layer of timeless charm to their captured memories.
The Ovation Yacht, with its panoramic views and serene ambiance, provided the perfect canvas for their love story to unfold. As the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky with hues of orange and pink, it felt like nature itself was applauding the union of two souls so beautifully intertwined.
Jennifer and Todd's wedding day wasn't just an event; it was a testament to the power of love, friendship, and the joy of finding your perfect match. Being a part of their journey, from the engagement session to their wedding day, was a privilege that I'll forever cherish. Here's to a lifetime of adventures, laughter, and love for this incredibly charming couple. Cheers to Jennifer and Todd—the epitome of a match made in heaven!
Ann Arbor Proposal Photographer | Wyatt & Emily
It all began with an email, a digital thread that carried the weight of Wyatt's hopes and dreams. Wyatt, an individual teeming with anticipation, reached out to me about orchestrating a proposal—a moment that would etch itself into the tapestry of his and Emily's lives.
Wyatt had been meticulously planning this pivotal event, seeking the perfect backdrop to unravel the story of their love. The weight of this decision—a location that would mirror the grandeur of their emotions—pressed heavily on his mind. He toyed with ideas, sifting through memories and places until it struck him like a bolt of inspiration.

The weight of this decision—a location that would mirror the grandeur of their emotions—pressed heavily on his mind. He toyed with ideas, sifting through memories and places until it struck him like a bolt of inspiration.
The University of Michigan Law Quad, a place adorned with breathtaking architecture and scenic vistas, emerged in Wyatt's mind. It encapsulated both elegance and significance, a setting befitting the grand gesture he intended to make. But arriving at this decision wasn't a straightforward path. Wyatt wrestled with choices, seeking a location that could match the magnitude of his feelings for Emily.
The Law Quad, with its timeless beauty and sprawling views, became the answer Wyatt had been searching for—a symbol of their shared journey and the aspirations they held for their future together.
As Wyatt and I continued our conversations, the Law Quad became more than just a location; it became a stage—a stage upon which Wyatt's declaration of love would unfold. His excitement and nervous anticipation intermingled with the importance of this choice, the weight of a decision that would lay the foundation for their forever.
In the midst of his planning, Emily's mom, a silent force in the background, offered her unwavering support. Her involvement added another layer of warmth and care to the preparations, ensuring that every detail aligned seamlessly for this pivotal moment.
And as the day drew closer, Wyatt's anticipation grew palpable. The Law Quad stood ready, its architectural marvels and scenic beauty poised to bear witness to the profound declaration Wyatt was about to make.

Planning a proposal photoshoot extends beyond a simple question; it's about orchestrating a captivating tale that reflects your unique love saga. We want to help you find guidance to craft this moment into an everlasting visual opus.
1. Know Your Partner's Vibe
Whether it's a cozy park bench, a bustling city street, or a hidden gem you both adore, pick a location that resonates with them. It's like finding that perfect cup of tea that warms your soul.
2. Scout Your Cinematic Setting
Think of your proposal location as the perfect backdrop for your personal romantic movie scene. Scout it out beforehand, find the best angles, and envision how the moment will unfold. It's like setting up the perfect shot for a memorable scene.
3. Coordinate with a Photography
Finding the right photographer is key. Look for someone who shares your vision and understands your love story. Wedding photography, like that cliché dinner and a movie date, holds a special place in my heart. Discuss your ideas, preferences, and let them know about any specific shots you'd like to nail. Additionally, share your “Location” with your photographer the day of so they can easily see you coming.
4. Plan the Unexpected Twist
Just as life throws unexpected plot twists, plan a surprise element for the proposal. Whether it's involving friends, incorporating a shared activity, or a creative touch, make sure it aligns with your partner's preferences. The element of surprise adds an extra layer of magic.
5. Communicate Your Vision
Like telling the story behind a photograph, communicate your proposal plan clearly with your photographer. Share the cues, desired angles, and where you'll be positioned during the proposal. Clear communication ensures they capture the essence of the moment without missing a beat.
6. Be Ready for the Director's Cut
Remember, even the best-laid plans might need a backup. Have a contingency plan in case of unexpected weather or any last-minute hiccups. Just like the director's cut of a movie, be flexible and adapt to the changes seamlessly.
7. Celebrate Your Love Story
After the proposal and the photo session, take time to celebrate! Relive the emotions, scroll through the photos, and savor the joyous occasion.
Detroit Proposal Photographer | Brianna & Brian
Brian emailed me as a referral from the Whitney in downtown Detroit, he informed me that he was ready to propose to the girl he had been dating for the past 8 months, the Whitney is where they had their first date, and was looking for a photographer to capture this important moment in his life. I told Brian that I'd be honored to help him capture her reaction and the event he had been planning.

I told him I don't do video but I'd love to add it to your package and capture those moments in action because I think it would bring the extra spice that would otherwise be missing. The video came out stellar and I instantly knew I had to offer this to all my future couples!
Mira & Jeff | Cranbrook Gardens Engagement Session
I got an email from Mira & Jeff this year at the end of April, looking for a last-minute wedding photographer to capture their “I do’s” this August. To my surprise, I was available and ecstatic to work with these two. From their initial email stating how they’ve known each other since high school, but it wasn’t until their early twenties that the stars aligned and they connected. To chatting with them about their love for each other and their wedding day plans. I knew that this was going to be a magical wedding to document.

Halley & Andrew
Haley and Andrew's Michigan, Game of Thrones wedding took place at one of their friend's properties where Andrew and his team practice Buhurt (a high-intensity sport) where you dress in full armor to fight with swords, axes, and spears. The wedding resembled the “Renaissance Festival” but really felt as if I was back in time during the medieval period. H & A Really gave it their all and kept attention to detail when putting together their dream wedding. Majority of the guests came dressed in full character, and it was just so cool to be around the energy and costumes!

I met Haley when she booked me for a Boudoir session with me. She brought a mace a sword and an armored helmet and I just had to know when her wedding date was… Because I knew this wedding was going to be so cool and it was totally beyond expectations! I am enthralled that I was able to capture their fairytale story!
Jarrett was absolutely wonderful! Having a Covid wedding, everything was scattered or things were ready to change last minute, and Jarrett was there 100% of the time, and very flexible. He made my wedding feel like an absolute fairytale. He went above and beyond, from moving furniture, to buying a pair of rain boots so he could get through the muddy mess of our ceremony grounds. His dedication and talent exceeded my expectations. I only have sneak peeks right now, but they make me SO excited to get the rest of them!! If you need a wedding or boudoir photographer, stop looking and book him!
Kennyle & Andre
Kennyle and Andre's wedding took place at the Waterview Loft Port Detroit, located in Detroit, Michigan. K & A met at Detroit vegan soul. In Andre's words, he was having lunch one day at Vegan Soul (a local vegan restaurant.) and was seated next to a beautiful woman. (From what I understand this was his first time eating at the restaurant.) He proceeded to ask her for a suggestion on what to eat. When she suggested something he was allergic to he still ordered it. He wanted to Impress her by trying what she loved at the restaurant.

Kennyle and Andre's theme was Elegance. From the Rolls-Royce; to the red bottom shoes, and the Cartier wedding bands… This wedding was to the nines! We took a pit stop at the Detroit Institute of Arts to take some photos and of course, we had to make a pit stop at Vegan Soul for some romantic wedding portraits. (The place where K&A met.) The Reception was full of energy and they even had some excellent African drummers and dancers.
Sarah & Joshua
I've known Sarah and Josh for a while now. I first met Josh when I photographed Josh's brother's wedding. So I was super excited to hear that S&J got engaged and wanted to have me capture the story of their wedding day, as their photographer. Since I've known their families for many years. The photoshoot just felt like I was hanging out with some old friends, and capturing memories for them.

Sarah and Josh’s Reception took place at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan and their ceremony took place at a cute little church in downtown Plymouth Michigan.
The best part about Sarah and Josh's wedding was their energy… Not just their energy in general, but their energy towards each other. You can see how they felt about each other, and those are honestly my favorite kind of weddings… The ones where you can just visually see and feel that the couple is madly in love. They just couldn't stop cheesing at each other!
I honestly can't wait for the next person in this family to get married so I can see everybody again!
Their wedding day began early at the MGM Grand Detroit, long before the city had fully settled into the morning. There’s something different about downtown Detroit at 7:30am. The streets are quieter. The light feels softer. It was the kind of calm that lets anticipation settle in slowly.
Inside the suite, Diem was surrounded by her bridesmaids and her mom. The room held that mix of excitement and tenderness that always lingers while a bride gets ready. Shoes lined up neatly. Her dress hanging in the window light. Makeup brushes moving quickly across countertops.
